Founding Partner at PUCK, A Digital Media Company

Matthew Belloni is the Founding Partner of Puck, a next-generation digital media company that covers the power centers of Hollywood, Silicon Valley, Washington, and New York. Since helping launch Puck in September 2021, Belloni has authored the flagship "What I’m Hearing" newsletter, offering twice-weekly insights into the entertainment industry. He also hosts "The Town," a popular podcast on The Ringer Podcast Network that provides a deep dive into the real inside conversations about money and power in showbiz.

Prior to the Puck, as Editorial Director of The Hollywood Reporter (THR) from 2016 to 2020, Belloni was responsible for editorial content and initiatives at the iconic entertainment media outlet. Belloni oversaw all of THR’s editorial properties, including its weekly print magazine; digital verticals; on- and off-platform video content, podcasts and live events. During this time, THR took home a National Magazine Award for General Excellence by the American Society of Magazine Editors and more than 100 National Arts and Entertainment Journalism awards. He also spearheaded THR’s move into audio and video with its roundtable series, “Close Up With The Hollywood Reporter,” which was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award, and “Angelyne,” a scripted adaptation of a THR article.

Before joining THR, Belloni was an attorney at an entertainment law firm in Los Angeles, representing actors, filmmakers and media companies in disputes and litigation. He appears regularly as an analyst on NBC, CBS, CNN, CNBC, NPR’s "The Business" and "The Bill Simmons Podcast." He holds a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of California, Berkeley, and a law degree from the University of Southern California School of Law.
