Melissa Morrison Higgins was born August 19, 1983 in Melbourne, Victoria and is a singer, songwriter, and actress. Higgins showed an interest in music from an early age and began to learn classical piano at the age of 6. However, by the time she was 12, Higgins decided she wanted to be a singer. At age 15 Higgins wrote, “All for Believing,” and approached a Melbourne record company with the song. Higgins' song was entered into Unearthed, radio station Triple J's competition for unsigned artists. The song won the competition and was added to the station's play list.

The airplay led to a record deal from Eleven Records. By 2002, “All for Believing” was receiving airplay on Los Angeles’ KCRW, and caught the attention of Warner Bros. Records who offered Higgins an international recording contract. Higgins’ EP, “Missy Higgins,” arrived in 2004. She supported the EP with a tour, opening up for Pete Murray and John Butler Trio.

Also in 2004, Higgins’ second EP, “Scar” was released, followed by her debut album, “The Sound of White,” which peaked at #1 on the ARIA Albums chart. The album’s success garnered Higgins five ARIA Music Awards nominations, for Best Female Artist, Single of the Year, Best Pop Release, Breakthrough Artist – Single and Best Video. Higgins followed up with a national headlining tour.

In 2006 Higgins headed to Los Angeles to begin work on her second album, “On a Clear Night,” which emerged in 2007 and peaked at #1 on the Australian Albums chart. 2007 saw Higgins perform at the ARIAs where she was nominated for Best Pop Release, Highest Selling Album, Highest Selling Single and won for Best Female Artist.

2009 saw Higgins take a break from the music world after seven years of touring and recording. 2010 marked her acting debut in the film, “Bran Nue,” and a number of performances on the Lilith Fair tour. Higgins re-emerged musically in 2012 with her third album, “The Ol' Razzle Dazzle,” which also peaked at #1 on the ARIA Albums chart.
