Matthew Mellon is the Chairman and Co-Founder of HanleyMellon and the former chairman of the New York Republican Party's Finance Committee.

Hanley is a direct descendant of Judge Thomas Mellon, the founder of Mellon Bank (now Bank of New York Mellon corp) on his paternal side. On his maternal side, he is a direct descendant of Anthony Joseph Drexel, founder of Drexel-Burnham-Lambert. He maintains associations with both Drexel University and Carnegie Mellon University, both of which were founded by family members.

Mellon has worked as an entrepreneur, founder, private equity investor with a focus on the luxury and Oil space. Amongst the companies with which he has been involved are Jimmy Choo, Harrys of London, Hanley Mellon, Marquis Jets, and Arrival Aviation. In the private equity sector, Matthew has a relationship with a New York-based family office called Essex. He regularly consults for both family offices and business owners in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and North America.

He is an investor in Ripple, a cryptocurrency exchange company. Mellon's XRP is worth around $1 billion.
