Maya Erskine

Actress, Writer & Producer Known For Emmy Nominated "PEN15"

Maya Erskine is an American actress, producer and writer. She is known for starring alongside Anna Konkle in Hulu's original TV comedy series "PEN15," a comedy series that premiered in 2019 that depicted middle school as it really happened. The duo, who co-created and co-executive produced the series, played fictional versions of their 13-year-old selves during the year 2000. Her mother, Mutsuko Erskine, also played her fictional mother on the show. Erskine was nominated in 2019 for an Emmy for Outstanding Writing For A Comedy Series and PEN15 was nominated in 2021 for Best Comedy Series. Erskine has appeared in many television and film productions, and is best known for her comedic roles in "Man Seeking Woman" and "Betas" and recurring roles in "Insecure" and "Casual." In 2019, she appeared in Amy Poehler's directorial debut, Wine Country, opposite a slate of comedians including Poehler, Maya Rudolph, Tina Fey and Rachel Dratch. She has also tackled the stage and performed with the Los Angeles-based theater groups the East West Players and the Geffen Playhouse. Erskine attended New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts where she initially studied musical theatre but later switched to the school’s Experimental Theatre Wing.
