Megan Thee Stallion

Rapper Known for "Hot Girl Summer"

Megan Pete, known by her stage name, Megan Thee Stallion, is a rapper, singer and songwriter from Houston, Texas. She is known for her 2019 single “Hot Girl Summer.” “Hot Girl Summer” became a viral catchphrase on social media during the summer of 2019 after Megan Thee Stallion first used the term in a tweet on April 14, 2018. She defined the term as "women and men being unapologetically them, just having a good-ass time, hyping up their friends, doing you," and officially trademarked the term later that year.

Megan Thee Stallion’s first EP, Tina Snow, was released in June 2018. In November of that same year, she signed to 300 Entertainment, becoming the first female rapper to be signed to that label. On May 17, 2019, she released her first full-length project, Fever, which was met with critical acclaim; Pitchfork ranked it an 8 out of 10.

Megan Thee Stallion is known for her sexuality, confidence and explicit lyrics. Pete’s mother, Holly Thomas, was also a rapper, known by her stage name Holly-Wood. When Megan was young, her mother would take her along to recording sessions instead of putting her in daycare. Thomas died in March 2019 from a brain tumor.
