Mehrdad Mahdjoubi

CEO and Founder of Orbital Systems

So how can you make a small amount of water last for three years? This was the question given to Mehrdad Mahdjoubi at NASA’s Johnson Space Center. It was his fifth year studying Industrial Design at Lund University and he had just been given an opportunity to collaborate with NASA before his Master’s thesis.

After successfully completing the project, Mehrdad went back to Sweden. And it wasn’t before long that he started questioning why his designs for the space programme couldn’t be applied on earth.

There are almost two billion people suffering from water scarcity on a planet where water is deemed the number one global risk in terms of impacts on economies, environment and people. He realized it was time to start looking at water on earth in the same way he had done with water in space, that is, as a precious resource that must be used in the most efficient way possible.

He set out to create ORBITAL SYSTEMS, with a clear vision in mind:

“To create a new paradigm in daily water usage”
