Melody has experienced two careers in her lifetime; one in business and the other in education.
She is a graduate of UCLA with a Master’s degree in educational administration. She has taught grades 3-12 and at the university level. She was a television teacher for an educational series called “Story Time Friends,” has written successful grants, and coached both drama and speech students.
While teaching high school and watching so many children having children, she wrote her first book on young teen pregnancy called, "Pregnant, Pissed and Perplexed" and created workshops to go with the book: “TIO…Think It Over.”
Her business career has been in sales and marketing. She was the first female sales representative for the A.T. Cross Pen Company, spear-heading their national, “model store” program. She was a marketing representative for Sunset Magazine where she gave presentations to Western Regional management of major companies such as General Motors, Mercedes Benz Motors, Reynolds, Nestle, etc.
Her second book, "Laffing Matters: A Grouch Prevention Handbook" opened a whole new area of possibilities in the world of humor. Melody, through speeches and workshops, began spreading the word about the importance of humor for your health. She has witnessed in both careers how worry and stress can create hardening of the attitudes that is fatal to enjoying life.
Her new book that is soon to be released is for women only.
Melody Fleming describes herself as a “nut” that has held her ground and turned into a pretty cool Oak.
