Chief Scientist of Reality Labs at Meta

Michael Abrash is a game programmer and technical writer specializing in optimization, 80x86 assembly language, and game programming, a reputation cemented by his 1990 book "Zen of Assembly Language Volume 1: Knowledge." Today, he is the chief scientist of Oculus, the virtual-reality company, and currently leads the Oculus research team.

As a video-game developer, he helped create "Quake," worked on the first two versions of Microsoft’s Xbox, and developed virtual reality at Valve. He is also the author of several books, including "Michael Abrash’s Graphics Programming Black Book."
