Michael Acton Smith is the dynamic entrepreneur who has founded numerous technology based projects, including the wildly popular meditation space company Calm. Smith has long been fascinated by neuroscience, flow states and mental fitness. Learning to meditate had a profound impact on his life and he is passionate about spreading this simple but valuable skill around the world.

Prior to Calm, Smith was the founder of Mind Candy and creator of Moshi Monsters, the online world for children that grew to 80 Million registered users and expanded offline into books, toys, games, magazines, music and movies. Smith is also the founder of Firebox.com, Ping Pong Fight Club and Berwickstock music festival. In 2014, he was awarded an OBE for services to the Creative Industries. Prior to Calm, Smith was the founder of Mind Candy and creator of Moshi Monsters, the online world for children that grew to 80 Million registered users and expanded offline into books, toys, games, magazines, music and movies.

He is also the Co-Founder and CEO of Firebox, an online gadget shop that specializes in unique products and gadgets created in 1998. Almost six years later, Firebox was listed by The Sunday Times Fast Track 100 as the 13th fastest growing, privately-owned business in the UK. Following the immense success of Firebox, he created an equally quirky company Mind Candy, which has since become one of the world's leading developers of social multi-player games. Mind Candys flagship product, Moshi Monsters, has grown rapidly since it launched in April 2008, and now boasts sign-up figures in the tens of millions.

Smith is often asked to share his success stories with the corporate sector through fun, enthusiastic and powerful presentations, and in 2014 he was awarded an OBE for services to the Creative Industries. He was later appointed to sit on the Cool Brands Council which votes on the top 500 Cool Brands in the UK every year.
