Michael Auslin

Award-winning Author, Historian & Geopolitical Analyst

Michael “Misha” Auslin is one of America’s leading experts on Asia and geopolitical risk and is a top-ranked speaker for groups such as the Young Presidents Organization. Starting from the day’s headlines, Auslin will give you an unvarnished look behind the scenes at what's happening in America’s capital and cities around the world—explaining how it will affect you, your business, and your country. His customized talks combine history and the kind of information only an insider with his unique connections can get.

Auslin was a professor of history at Yale University and is now a distinguished fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution, one of the world's most influential think tanks. The World Economic Forum named him a “Young Global Leader” and he is a former Fulbright Scholar and Marshall Memorial Fellow, among other honors. He is the award-winning author of books including Asia’s New Geopolitics and The End of the Asian Century, which forecast many of the crises now roiling Asia, and has written hundreds of essays and articles for The Wall Street Journal, Foreign Affairs, The Atlantic, Foreign Policy, and The Spectator, among other publications.

Auslin has appeared on PBS, the BBC, Fox News, and other news networks, as well as radio across the country. He also advises the U.S. government, military, investors and private business on political and security matters. He travels through Europe and Asia regularly, talking with leaders of government, business, media, and civil society.

In addition to his position at Stanford, he is the senior advisor for Asia at the Halifax International Security Forum, a senior fellow at both the Foreign Policy Research Institute and Policy Exchange (London) and serves as the vice chair of the Wilton Park USA Foundation.
