Michael Carbonaro

Actor & Producer, "The Carbonaro Effect"; Magician & Illusionist

Michael Carbonaro, best known as the star and executive producer of the hit series "The Carbonaro Effect" on truTV, has also made frequent television appearances on shows such as "Happily Divorced," "30 Rock", "Grey’s Anatomy," and "CSI Miami." In addition to these roles, Carbonaro's acting credits include performances in "All My Children," "The Guiding Light," and "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit." A performing magician since his youth, Carbonaro later showcased his hidden-camera magic in the "Magic Clerk" segments on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno."

Following Carbonaro’s frequent late-night appearances, he was presented with the opportunity to launch his hit comedic series, "The Carbonaro Effect," which has run for over 100 episodes on truTV. He has received several awards for his innovative use of magic and illusion, including the Outfest "Best Actor in a Feature Film" award for his work in "Another Gay Movie." Carbonaro's signature style involves performing inventive tricks on unsuspecting members of the public who are unaware that he is a magician. Audiences are left in awe as he performs feats such as making a car disappear from under a security guard's nose or transforming alien crabs into kittens in a science lab. Whether posing as a coffee shop barista, museum curator, or seemingly unremarkable store clerk in the real world, Carbonaro's illusions – along with his absurd, matter-of-fact explanations – leave real people bewildered and families at home laughing out loud.

Aside from his television and film work, Carbonaro is also a highly sought-after public speaker. He regularly showcases his bizarre antics and mind-blowing magic at corporate events and through his highly acclaimed national theater tours. Offstage, he has been married to actor Peter Stickles since 2014. He holds a bachelor's degree in drama from the Tisch School of the Arts at NYU, where he studied experimental theater with the aspiration of entertaining audiences through a variety of theatrical mediums.
