Michael R. Van Dyke is founder and CEO of Serengeti Enterprises, a consulting/training organization focusing on personal and team development and communications. Michael brings over 25 years of training/teaching experience to Serengeti Enterprises. His background, like the organization, incorporates diverse creative aspects with fundamental business practices.
He holds an MFA from Yale University and has taught at educational institutions to include Yale University, Dartmouth College, Amherst College, University of Massachusetts, Smith College, Greenfield Community College and the Northern Virginia Community College. In addition he has worked with outdoor, experiential education organizations, including Project Adventure, Corporate Challenge, the Northfield Mountain Environmental and Recreation Center and Adventure Links.
Testing the outcome is crucial to determining success.Michael has worked with teams as diverse as the Santa Fe Opera Company, Northeast Utilities, the US Department of Agriculture, Blue Cross/Blue Shield Medical West, Marriott Corporation and many more. His unique approach to team building and communication has benefited both adults and children. Michael has been and presently is the team coordinator for a Smithsonian Laureate Award Winning Innovative Technology Camp for Young People in Northern Virginia.
Lively class discussion keeps participants engaged in the learning process.Incorporating fundamental concepts of communication and collaboration with experiential learning practices is Serengeti Enterprises unique approach to training. Michael’s understanding of the educational premise that one’s learning curve moves upward the greater the "fun factor", has resulted in his innovative perspective on teaching team building.
Michael has created several outdoor "adventures" that help team members understand individual and group relationships. Outdoor initiatives, including orienteering and rock climbing have provided powerful team awarenesses.
He has also incorporated these fundamental elements into indoor "Conference Room Adventure" programs. Focus is on individual and/or team skill development, awareness of emotional intelligence, strategic planning and more
