A board-certified internist, he sees patients at the Good Samaritan Health Center in Atlanta. Smith is a regular media expert who authored the book Ankylosing Spondylitis Pyramid: The Lifestyle That Lets You Take Back Control. He moderated a panel on health data at the 2015 South by Southwest conference; other speaking engagements include the Institute of Food Technologists conference and the Digital Health Communication Extravaganza.
