Michelle Kim is a writer and educator whose area of expertise is in how teenage girls affect culture, society and the economy.
Kim was born and raised in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada to a Canadian-legal-aid-lawyer father and a Korean-fashion-designer mother. After graduating from the University of British Columbia, she moved to London, England to work as a journalist for the BBC and later on to Seoul, South Korea, to work for the Korea Herald. She has contributed to the CBC, The Vancouver Sun, The Globe and Mail. In addition, Kim taught journalism at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, where she currently resides. Her first novel, LaLa Joy, is about coming-of-age girls and is forthcoming in North America.
