Mick Mulvaney
Co-Chair, Actum LLC; Former U.S. Congressman; Former Director, Office of Management & Budget
Mick Mulvaney is a seasoned public servant and political figure with a deep understanding of Washington, D.C., having held a range of high-profile roles across multiple branches of government.
From 2019 to 2020, he served as Acting White House Chief of Staff, navigating the complexities of an impeachment process and the initial response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Before that, Mulvaney was the Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), where he spearheaded the most significant deregulatory initiatives in four decades and managed the longest government shutdown in U.S. history. His government service also included a stint as Acting Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), where he led one of the most controversial federal regulatory agencies. Additionally, Mulvaney was appointed as U.S. Special Envoy to Northern Ireland during the height of Brexit negotiations.
Before his executive branch roles, Mulvaney represented South Carolina's 5th District in Congress, making history as the first Republican to hold the seat in 128 years. During his tenure in the House, he co-founded both the Freedom Caucus and the Bitcoin Caucus and served on various committees, including the Budget Committee and the Financial Services Committee. His work in Congress reflected his strong conservative values and his commitment to fiscal responsibility, small business growth, and government reform.
A lifelong resident of the Carolinas, Mulvaney earned his undergraduate degree from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, graduating with honors in International Economics, Commerce, and Finance. He later received his law degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on a full academic scholarship and furthered his education by completing Harvard Business School’s OPM program in 2006. His diverse professional background includes practicing law, managing his family’s real estate business, starting a small homebuilding company, and becoming a minority shareholder in a restaurant franchise.
Mulvaney's dedication to his community extends beyond his government service. He was a founding member of the Indian Land Rotary and a founding member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Mission. A devout Catholic, Mulvaney is actively involved in his local parish, St. Philip Neri Catholic Church.
Currently, Mulvaney serves as co-chair at Actum LLC, a global consultancy firm that addresses complex public and private sector challenges. His varied experiences in government and business provide him with a unique perspective, making him a sought-after voice in political and economic discourse.
