Michael McCarthy began his coaching career in 1987 at Fort Hays State after a stint as a college football tight end. He has served as an offensive coordinator for the New Orleans Saints and the San Francisco 49ers. McCarthy is an American football coach and is currently the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys in the National Football League (NFL).

He was the head coach of the Green Bay Packers from 2006 to 2018, leading the team to a Super Bowl XLV victory over his hometown Pittsburgh Steelers in 2011. His tenure with the Packers was marked by significant accolades, including being voted the Motorola NFL Coach of the Year in 2007, after receiving Coach of the Week awards twice. In 2008, he received the distinguished service award at the Lee Remmel sports awards banquet in Green Bay.

In addition to his coaching responsibilities, McCarthy is deeply committed to community service and philanthropy. He and his wife founded the McCarthy Family Foundation, which supports various causes, including building a neonatal unit, assisting former combat veterans and athletes, and organizing an annual golf tournament to raise funds for a children’s hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. His keynote speeches often discuss building effective teams, the use of data analysis for making informed decisions, decision-making, maintaining confidence, and community support. In 2020, McCarthy took on the role of head coach for the Dallas Cowboys, leading them to a division title by 2021.
