Mike Modano is the greatest American-born hockey player of all time. He is a Stanley Cup winner, seven-time NHL All-Star, and the NHL record holder for goals and points by a U.S.-born player. He was selected 1st overall in the 1988 NHL Entry Draft en route to becoming one of the top 25 goal and point scorers in NHL history. He is respected and beloved by teammates and fans alike, and renowned as one of the fastest, most graceful skaters ever to play the game.
Mike has been the face of the Dallas Stars since the franchise relocated from Minnesota in 1993. His leadership, integrity, and excellence as a player and a community ambassador have been paramount to the success of hockey in Dallas. Yet his impact on the city goes well beyond the ice. He founded and serves as vice president of the nonprofit Mike Modano Foundation, which works to improve the quality of life for children in the Dallas area who have been abused, abandoned, or neglected.
In September 2011, Mike announced his retirement from hockey after 21 memorable seasons. He and his wife, singer and actress Willa Ford, currently live in Dallas.
