Whether a start-up entrepreneurial venture or a multi-million dollar highly regulated enterprise, Mike Mooney’s finance and technology acumen has helped transform visions to profitable realities for many businesses.

Mike’s unique blend of finance and technology expertise transformed Visit Phoenix from a technological laggard to an early adopter when he joined the CVB in 1997, as Director of Information Technology. Mike quickly was tapped for increasing responsibilities leading to his present position as Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer.

Prior to joining the DMO industry in 1997, Mike served as the senior finance/technology officer for several hospitality and tourism-related businesses operating in the aviation, hotel, restaurant, ground transportation and golf space in Arizona, Washington State, Hawaii, California and Nevada. While honing his skills, Mike developed numerous applications designed to streamline operations and increase profits for these businesses.

Mike laughingly muses that his passion for both finance and technology is either a blessing or curse. Early in his career, a brief stint in the casino software development industry convinced Mike that numbers and technology, correctly managed, were the basis for profitability. He also learned (through his work, not hands-on experience) to stay away from gaming tables.

When not working or spending time with his family, Mike likes to spend down time on several of Arizona's magnificent golf courses.
