Mikkel Vestergaard Frandsen is the CEO of the Group, Vestergaard Frandsen, a European company specializing in complex emergency response and disease control products that target HIV, malaria and diarrheal disease.

His company (see www.vestergaard-frandsen.com) operates under a unique Humanitarian Entrepreneurship business model, whose “profit for a purpose” approach has turned corporate social responsibility into its core business. The company’s innovative products include PermaNet® for the prevention of malaria, LifeStraw® to provide clean and safe drinking water, and CarePack® to prevent the spread of all three diseases.

Mikkel was recently honored with the 2009 Social and Economic Innovation Award from The Economist magazine, and received the 2010 Financial Times Social Innovation Award for Most Innovative Company. Mikkel was named a 2010 Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum, and recently made a Luhya Tribe Elder, an honor to foreigners who have touched the lives of the Kenyan community in an extraordinary manner.
