Mipso

Americana String Band Based Out of North Carolina

Mipso is a progressive Americana string band based out of Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The group formed when they were all students at UNC-Chapel Hill interested in folk and bluegrass music. Mipso is made up of Libby Rodenbough (vocals, fiddle), Joseph Terrell (vocals, guitar), Jacob Sharp (vocals, mandolin) and Wood Robinson (upright bass, vocals). The quartet was originally billed as Mipso Trio prior to making Rodenbough a full-time member rather than a guest artist. After the four members graduated UNC in 2013, they embarked on a two-week tour of Japan that was depicted in the documentary "Mipso in Japan" by filmmaker Jon Kasbe. The film premiered at film festivals across the country in 2014. In 2015, Mipso performed on the KFC Float in Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. The group has released four albums together, "Dark Holler Pop," "Old Time Reverie," "Coming Down the Mountain" and "Edges Run." "Edges Run," released in April 2018, included the popular song "People Change," which has received over 30 million streams on Spotify.
