Mira Sorvino
Academy Award-Winning Actress & United Nations Goodwill Ambassador on Human Trafficking
Mira Sorvino is an Academy Award and Golden Globe Award-winning actress, as well as a U.N. Goodwill Ambassador and activist.
Sorvino's first major screen appearance was in the teen television series "Swans Crossing," on which she appeared in six episodes. In 1995, she landed the role of Leslie, a happy-go-lucky prostitute, in "Mighty Aphrodite," which launched her into stardom, and won her an Academy Award and Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress.
Sorvino continued to appear in numerous TV Series and films, including "Norma Jean and Marilyn" (1996), "Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion" (1997), "Summer of Sam' (1999), "Human Trafficking" (2005), "Reservation Road" (2007), "Trade of Innocents" (2012) , and "Union Square" (2012).
In 2014, she reappeared as Head Detective Betsy Brannigan on the final season of "Psych", and played pivotal roles in Intruders for BBC America, Falling Skies, Stalker (2015), and Beneath The Leaves (2019). In 2018 she was cast in a recurring role on Emmy Award winning ABC series Modern Family, the 20th Century Fox film Stuber (2019), and began production on the film Butter in 2019.
Sorvino is a Harvard graduate and an official ambassador for the United Nations on Human Trafficking. In that role, she has traveled the world on behalf of the UN and testified to Congress on human trafficking and atrocities occurring around the world from Mexico to Darfur to here in the United States.

Mira Sorvino, UNODC Goodwill Ambassador to Combat Human Trafficking, brings first hand knowledge of the scourge of human trafficking and the empowering message of how we all can be key players in stopping it. Her work has taken her across the globe where she has collaborated with governments, NGOs and the private sector. She has interviewed scores of survivors and even a trafficker, and their stories will inspire audience members to get involved. In addition, she has fostered the passage of federal and state legislation that has helped not only trafficking but sexual violence and domestic abuse survivors and will share how to support current bills on these topics. Mir will inspire with these success stories of survivor heroes and prove that no one is a lost cause!
