His books have sold over 35 million copies and have been translated into over 40 languages. His breakthrough book, Tuesdays with Morrie, became an international phenomenon with over 14 million copies sold. It remains one of the top selling memoirs of all time. Albom has founded seven charities, all are located in the Detroit area, including: S.A.Y. Detroit, which operates a family health clinic; A Time to Help, a volunteer organization; and A Hole in the Roof Foundation, which repairs faith-based homeless shelters. Albom's 2014 book, The First Phone Call from Heaven, is a #1 New York Times bestseller. In its starred review, Publisher's Weekly called the book "a brisk, page-turner of a story...another winner from Albom.”
His #1 New York Times bestseller, Have A Little Faith, begins with an unusual request when his rabbi asks him to deliver his eulogy. An 8-year journey, Albom's story is about how community and faith pull people together and the potential in all of us for a giving, meaningful life.
Albom's The Five People You Meet in Heaven debuted at #1 on The New York Times bestseller list and sold nearly five million copies in its first year. He wrote the screenplay for the ABC TV movie starring Jon Voight and Ellen Burstyn.
