Senior Political Correspondent for The Wall Street Journal; Bestselling Author, "Pelosi"

Molly Ball is a political journalist and writer currently serving as the senior political correspondent for The Wall Street Journal. Prior to the WSJ, Ball served as Time magazine’s National Political Correspondent and has made her mark as a frequent television and radio commentator. She is the author of the New York Times bestseller "Pelosi," a biography of the first woman Speaker of the House, published in 2020.

Prior to joining The Wall Street Journal and Time, Ball covered U.S. politics for various notable publications, including The Atlantic, Politico, and the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Her journalistic journey also includes stints at newspapers in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Cambodia, reporting for The Cambodia Daily in 2002 and a summer internship at the Washington Post in 2001. She has also worked for the New York Times, marking a comprehensive career in journalism.

Ball's work in journalism has earned her numerous awards, including the Everett McKinley Dirksen Award for Distinguished Reporting of Congress, the Gerald R. Ford Prize for Distinguished Reporting on the Presidency, the Toner Prize for Excellence in Political Reporting, and the Society of Professional Journalists Sigma Delta Chi Award in 2016. Her other accolades include the Sandy Hume Memorial Award for Excellence in Political Journalism, the Lee Walczak Award for Political Analysis, and recognition as Outstanding Journalist in Print in the 2020 Washington Women in Journalism awards.

A graduate of Yale University, Ball was a Knight-Wallace journalism fellow at the University of Michigan in 2009. In 2007, she won $100,000 on the game show "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire."

Originally from Idaho and Colorado, Ball now resides in Arlington, Virginia. She lives with her husband, David Kihara, the managing editor for the WJLA website, the ABC affiliate in D.C., and their three children.
