Monica Brown is an American singer, songwriter, and actress best known for her global best selling albums The Boy Is Mine, After the Storm, The Makings of Me, and Still Standing and number-one R&B and Pop hits including "Don't Take It Personal (Just One of Dem Days)", "Like This and Like That," "The Boy Is Mine," "The First Night," "Angel of Mine," "So Gone," and "Everything to Me." She has also had roles in a number of television shows and films including Living Single, Felecity, American Dreams, Boys and Girls, Love Song, and Pastor Brown.

She has been nominated for awards at the BET Awards, Billboard Music Awards, BMI Pop Awards, Grammy Awards, Teen Choice Awards, MTV Video Awards and more and has won five of her 44 award nominations, including a Grammy for her 1998 hit “The Boy is Mine.”

In 2018 Monica released “Be Human” to introduce her nonprofit The Be Human Foundation. In 2019 she released her first single, titled “Commitment,” on her own label, Mondeenise Music.

Monica faced much hardship in the early 2000’s. Her career slowed down in 1999 due to relationship issues with her ex-boyfriend Jarvis Weems. The next year Jarvis committed suicide while with Monica. It was not until 2009 that Monica started working on her music again. A reality series called Monica: Still Standing premiered on BET from 2009-2010 about her search for a hit single while balancing being a full-time mother and dealing with her troubled past.

Monica was born and raised in College Park, GA. She has two children with her ex-husband Rodney “Rock” Hill and one child with her husband Shannon Brown.
