Monica Hesse is a feature writer for The Washington Post, where she covers events ranging from dog shows, to royal weddings, to political campaigns. Hesse has been featured on NBC, MSNBC, CNN, CSPAN, FOX and NPR.

She is also a bestselling author, and is known for her true crime love story "American Fire." Her young adult historical mystery novel, "Girl in the Blue Coat", won an Edgar Award. The book was also shortlisted for the American Booksellers Association's Indies Choice Award. As an author, Hesse has won the Society for Feature Journalism's Narrative Storytelling award, and was a finalist for a Livingston Award and a James Beard Award.
