Monty Roberts

World Famous Horse Whisperer and Author of The Man Who Listens To Horses

Monty Roberts, a modern day cowboy, departed from the tradition of "breaking" horses through fear and punishment.  He pioneered his own method of "starting" horses, called "join-up," in which the trainer elicits top performance from horses by establishing a relationship of communication, trust and respect with them.

He is the author of New York Times bestseller "The Man Who Listens to Horses" and "Horse Sense for People: The Man Who Listens to Horses Talks to People;" Subject of the Hollywood film, The Horse Whisperer, starring Robert Redford; Winner of numerous awards and championships, including the World Championship in Equitation - 1950, Stock Horse Man of the Year - 1988, four-time winner of the World Championship in Reined Cow Horse Events and two-time winner of the World Championship Stallion Competition

Monty has found that join up works equally well in the corporate world as on the ranch.  At the heart of Monty Roberts' methods is a belief that with trust you will gain cooperation, that with listening you will spark motivation.  In his work with over 250 major companies, including American Express, Johnson & Johnson, Dean Witter, Disney, Hallmark and John Deere, Monty Roberts has seen that managers who apply his techniques for establishing a relationship of trust, respect, and communication with their teams elicit peak performance.
