Management Professor, Award-Winning Author, Expert in Collaboration and Innovation

Morten T. Hansen is a management professor at the University of California, Berkeley (School of Information) and at INSEAD, France. He has a longstanding academic career that includes previous positions as a professor at Harvard Business School, Harvard University, where he taught leadership, general management, and corporate change in the MBA and executive education programs.

Hansen's research encompasses collaboration, innovation, corporate transformation, and strategies for building exceptional companies. His work has been recognized and published in prestigious journals such as Administrative Science Quarterly, Strategic Management Journal, and Academy of Management Journal. His influential research has been featured in top-tier publications like The New York Times, Business Week, The Wall Street Journal, The Economist, and Financial Times. He is also the recipient of the 2005 Sloan Management Review/PricewaterhouseCoopers Award for a significant management article and the 2005 ASQ award for notable contributions to organization studies.

In addition to his academic pursuits, Hansen has written several influential books. His book "Collaboration: How Leaders Avoid the Traps, Create Unity, and Reap Big Results," published in May 2009, was highlighted by CIO Insight Magazine as one of The Best IT-Business Books of 2009. His recent work, "Great at Work: How Top Performers Do Less, Work Better, and Achieve More," is based on a five-year study of over 5,000 managers and employees and became a Wall Street Journal bestseller. He also co-authored "Great by Choice" with Jim Collins, discussing business success in times of uncertainty, which is a New York Times bestseller. His books are often used by executives and leaders to enhance productivity and collaboration within their organizations.

Born in Norway and a fluent speaker of both English and Norwegian, Hansen holds a Master's degree in Finance from the London School of Economics and a Ph.D. in Business Administration from Stanford University, where he was a Fulbright scholar and recipient of the Jaedicke award for outstanding Ph.D. student performance. Hansen has also held senior management consulting roles in the London, Scandinavian, and San Francisco offices of the Boston Consulting Group and has advised numerous Fortune 100 companies, including Intel, Apple, and Microsoft. His expertise makes him a sought-after speaker at senior executive and in-company conferences across the globe.
