Principal & Editor-in-Chief, Bystander Media LLC

Before founding Bystander Media, Paul was editor of Forbes.com and executive editor of Forbes for almost a decade during which time Forbes.com increased its audience twelvefold to a peak of 18 million monthly unique visitors, transforming the magazine's web site into a leading online destination for business, finance and up-scale lifestyle. He was inducted into min's Digital Hall of Fame in 2010 and is the recipient of many industry awards, including Editor of the Year and Media Business Innovation Awards.

Previous to joining Forbes at the start of 2001, he had been the founding editor of the Financial Times' FT.com which he launched in 1995 in a similar joint print-online role intended to transform the editorial culture at the newspaper as the news business was starting to be reshaped by the internet. The site was the first non-U.S. site to win two Eppy Awards.

Mr. Maidment's earlier career includes a decade as a writer and editor with The Economist in Asia, Europe and the U.S. as well as time with Newsweek, the Asian Wall Street Journal and the BBC, experience that gives him a uniquely global perspective on the changes transforming the international political economy as well as those blowing through the publishing industry, both subjects on which he is a frequent speaker and broadcaster. His signature web video column, Notes on the News, about the intersection of global business, politics and economics, is the recipient of a Media Business Best Online Business Video Award.
