Mr. Robert Laubachner  

Acting Executive Director and Research Scientist, MIT Center for Collective Intelligence

Robert Laubacher is Acting Executive Director and Research Scientist at MIT’s Center for Collective Intelligence. His work examines how the Internet is enabling new forms of large-scale, globally-distributed collaboration.

Mr. Laubacher has published in such venues as Harvard Business Review, the Financial Times, and Boston Globe, and his work has been featured on National Public Radio and in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times and Fast Company. He co-edited Inventing the Organizations of the 21st Century (MIT Press, 2003).

During his time at MIT, Mr. Laubacher has worked as a consultant to global corporations, start-up firms, and the organization practice of McKinsey and Company. He also served as executive producer of two independent feature films, Home Before Dark (1997), which won the grand jury prize at the Hamptons International Film Festival, and American Wake (2004); and he was author of Lens on the Bay State (2006), a study of film production in Massachusetts.

While in the doctoral program in history at Harvard, Mr. Laubacher served as lead researcher for The Prize, a Pulitzer Prize winning history of the oil industry.
