Executive Vice President & CEO of Microsoft AI; Artificial Intelligence Thought Leader & Co-Founder of Inflection AI & DeepMind

Mustafa Suleyman is the CEO of Microsoft AI, a new division bringing together Microsoft’s major consumer AI products and teams including Copilot, Bing and Edge. He is also an Executive Vice President in the company and sits on the senior leadership team.

He was previously co-founder and CEO of Inflection AI, an AI studio redefining the relationship between humans and computers through its leading models like Inflection-2.5 and Pi, its first personal AI. Before that, Suleyman worked at Google as Vice President of AI Products and AI Policy and co-founded DeepMind, which was bought by Google. Over his ten years at the company, he led the applied research and commercialization efforts, helped establish DeepMind as the global leader in AI R&D and ethics, and contributed to numerous high impact research publications.

His New York Times and Sunday Times bestselling book "The Coming Wave: Technology, Power, and the Twenty-First Century's Greatest Dilemma," which explores the widespread impact of frontier technologies, was shortlisted for the 2023 Financial Times Business Book of the Year Award, and has been translated into 33 languages.

Suleyman’s accomplishments have been recognized both in the US and the UK. In 2019, he received the Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire and the same year he accepted the Silicon Valley Visionary Award. He earned recognition from TIME as one of the magazine's 100 most influential people in artificial intelligence in 2023.

He is a Senior Fellow at The Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at the Harvard Kennedy School working on the geostrategic challenges of future AI systems, a Board member at The Economist and a member of the Steering Committee of WEF's AI Governance Alliance.

Despite dropping out of college, Suleyman has had a significant impact on the tech industry, advocating for redesigning industry incentives to prioritize social responsibility. Prior to his work in tech, he worked as a policy officer on human rights for Ken Livingstone, the Mayor of London, and helped establish the Muslim Youth Helpline, a mental health support service for Muslims in the UK.
