Mylene Labrie

The art of flipping your life

Mylene is originally from Canada and has lived in Charlotte, North Carolina since 2005. She has two grown children and has reinvented her life many times. What she speaks about she has experienced first hand.

Her first professional love was teaching and she taught English as a Second Language in Quebec, Canada for seven years. Needing a change, Mylene and her two teenagers then uprooted their lives and moved to North Carolina where she was a French teacher in two inner-city middle schools. Though she loved teaching, she grew frustrated at how difficult situations were handled and she decided to start dreaming again. Be careful what you wish for!

For the next four years, she was an instructor for the Crisis Prevention Institute and facilitated their Nonviolent Crisis Intervention program throughout Canada and the United States. Through her interactions with thousands of human service professionals, she developed the knowledge and the insight that she now shares with the audiences she presents to. Crisis isn't only in schools and hospitals; it's with our mate, our children and ourselves.
