Myriam Márquez is Executive Editor of El Nuevo Herald, the largest Spanish-language daily in the United States. She previously served as the Miami Herald’s Editorial Page Editor. A University of Maryland journalism graduate, she has worked at the Herald since 2005, serving as assistant city editor and later deputy metro editor, overseeing award-winning projects including coverage of terrorism suspects, higher education and the evolving face of Miami’s Cuban exile community.

Born in Cuba, she grew up in Miami, graduating from Miami Senior High and Miami-Dade Community College. She has won numerous journalism awards and was named among the top 100 most influential Hispanics in the nation by Hispanic Business magazine in 2009. Myriam spent 18 years as an editorial board member and columnist at The Orlando Sentinel. She is married to investigative TV reporter Tony Pipitone, and they have two grown sons — a Florida State Seminole and a University of Florida Gator.
