Nadia Mahmud

CEO & Co-Founder,Jolkona.org

I'm the Co-Founder and CEO of Jolkona.org, a Seattle-based non-profit that connects donors, especially younger donors, to global and local micro-giving opportunities. We do so through a technology platform that features trusted non-profit organizations and provides a feedback loop for donors to know how their donations are making a difference. Prior to starting Jolkona, I worked in the non-profit sector in Los Angeles promoting social entrepreneurship and financial literacy to inner city youth. In my spare time I do some speaking engagements for organizations like Global Washington, Fulbright Scholars, the Guiding Lights Network, the Millennium Campus Network, and the World Affairs Council Young Professional Group about using technology to inspire the next generation of philanthropists.

I am also a Registered Dietitian and serve as an advisor for social enterprise Food N’ Me that builds educational iPad games to teach kids how to eat healthier, the non-profit Whole Kids Adventure that helps promote a healthy lifestyle for children and for the non-profit iOnPoverty working to educate students how to start a career making a social impact.

Nadia has a BA in Business/Economics with a minor in Public Policy from UCLA and a Master in Public Health (MPH) and Nutrition from the University of Washington in Seattle where she conducted her research on the economics of obesity in Seattle.
