Naila Amin is South Asian-American child marriage survivor who was engaged at 8 years old while visiting her family in Pakistan. At 13, during another family visit, she was married against her will and eventually left in Pakistan where she endured months of abuse. After several life-threatening attempts, and with the help of U.S. authorities, she escaped and returned to the U.S. where she faced challenging and traumatic residential placements afterward.

As a young adult, Amin turned her victim experience into a heroic life commitment by advocating for human rights and fighting for changes in child marriage and immigration laws. Her efforts led to the passing of "Naila's Law" in New York in 2021, which aims to protect children from forced marriages by raising the age requirement to 18. Her resilience and advocacy continue to inspire and support other human right’s victims as she is currently working with lawmakers to change the laws in other states.
