Activist for Prevention of Domestic Violence; Strategic Advisor of the Washington State Coalition Against Domestic Violence

Nan Stoops is the Strategic Advisor of the Washington State Coalition Against Domestic Violence (WSCADV), where she previously held a 17-year tenure as the Executive Director. Stoops began her career in the anti-violence sector over 40 years ago, embarking on her journey as a volunteer at the King County Sexual Assault Resource Center in 1977. She was also served as the Associate Director of the Faith Trust Institute and a founding member of INCITE! Women of Color Against Violence.

Stoops has a long history of community organizing and public speaking engagements. She is noted for her ability to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders, striving for systemic change in societal response and prevention of sexual assault. Her tireless campaigning for improvements in policies to protect survivors of sexual assault is evident in her co-founding of organizations like the National Coalition for the Homeless and The Women's Community Building Initiative.

Stoops has been honored with the Seattle Girls' School Grace Hopper Award and the Social Justice Champion accolade. In 2018, she was named among the Seattle Storm Inspiring Women, and in 2019 she received the National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV) Dream Award. These honors serve to recognize her persistent dedication to combating systemic injustices and bolstering vulnerable communities, cementing her legacy as a pivotal force in the fight against domestic violence.
