Navied Mahdavian        

New Yorker Cartoonist & Graphic Novelist

Navied Mahdavian is a cartoonist and writer whose work has appeared in The New Yorker, Los Angeles Times, Wired, Reader's Digest and the cartoon collections "Send Help!" and "The Rejection Collection." He is the author and illustrator of the graphic memoir "This Country: Searching for Home in (Very) Rural America" about his sojourn to an off-the-grid cabin in Idaho, which was an NPR and New Yorker book of the year.

Before becoming a cartoonist, Mahdavian taught fifth grade, which is where he learned most of his jokes.
