Neil Smith graduated from Cambridge University. Until 2004 Neil ran Alternative Investments at Morley Fund Management in London where he invested over USD 6 billion of principal capital with a gross exposure of over USD 30 billion. During this time Neil developed a keen in opportunities in the CIS, and opened an investment management business in Moscow. Between 2004 and 2007 Neil acquired a Russian real estate portfolio of USD 300 million.

When the crisis hit Neil was a substantial lender to numerous Russian businesses. He acquired a number of distressed companies, which he has successfully restructured and returned to pre-crisis levels.

Neil's most significant industrial assets include Eastern Beverage Company, one of the largest spirit producers in Eastern Europe; TIS, a steel galvanizing and polymer coating plant in Moscow Oblast; and a number of real estate and agricultural assets.
