Competitive Swimmer, Five-Time World Champion in Breaststroke Events & Olympic Gold & Silver Medalist

Nic Fink, a competitive swimmer, has made his mark in both long-course and short-course events. Some of his most significant achievements include his five World Champion titles in breaststroke events, a Silver Medal at the 2024 Olympics in the 100-meter breaststroke, and his various record-setting performances. Fink's records feature world records in the short course 4×100 meter medley relay and 4×50-meter mixed medley relay, Americas records in the short course 50 meter, 100 meter, and 200-meter breaststroke, and American records in the long course 50-meter breaststroke. He also set American records in the 100-meter breaststroke and 200-meter breaststroke during the 2020 season of the International Swimming League.

Fink's career highlights include a range of titles and medals. He won the World Short Course titles in the 50-meter breaststroke in 2021 and 2022 and the World Long Course title in the 50-meter breaststroke in 2022. Additionally, he is the 2022 World Short Course gold medalist in the 100-meter breaststroke and the 2021 World Short Course gold medalist in the 200-meter breaststroke. His performances at the 2019 Pan American Games led to a silver medal in the 200-meter breaststroke and a gold medal in the 4x100-meter medley relay. Moreover, he was a key player in the inaugural International Swimming League in 2019 as a member of the Cali Condors, winning both the 50 and 200-meter breaststroke events.

Fink's achievements have also extended beyond the pool. In 2022, SwimSwam named him U.S. Swimmer of the Year (Male), and while attending the University of Georgia, he received the Joel Eaves Scholar Athlete Award. Despite his rigorous training and competition schedule, Fink has also managed to balance a full-time career as an engineer. His commitment to the sport began in his childhood, watching swimming on television and dreaming of becoming an Olympian himself. Originally from Morristown, New Jersey, Fink attended Pingry School before moving on to the University of Georgia and has trained with various swim teams globally, including Saint Petersburg Aquatics and the Georgia Bulldogs.

He has continued to build his career, culminating in his representation of the United States at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, where he competed in the 200-meter breaststroke, and then again at the 2024 Olympics, where he won a silver medal in the 100-meter breaststroke. Moreover, Fink played a vital role in the 4x100m mixed medley relay team that won an Olympic gold in 2024. His career also includes participation in various international swimming events, such as the International Swimming League and the World Short Course Championships. His track record speaks to his dedication and skill, marking him as a leading figure in the swimming community. Fink is married to Melanie Margalis, a fellow swimmer and gold medalist at the 2016 Summer Olympics.
