Nick Diaz is a professional mixed martial artist. Since beginning his career in 2001, Diaz has competed in UFC, PRIDE, Strikeforce, EliteXC, World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC), DREAM, and Shooto. As well, he is a former welterweight champion in Strikeforce and WEC and is the older brother of Nate Diaz.

Diaz began his martial arts career training under Cesar Gracie in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) since his teens and was awarded a black belt from him in 2007. As a BJJ competitor, Diaz was the US Purple Belt Open in 2004 and took home the Pan American Brow Belt Medium Weight Division title in 2005.

Diaz is known for his outstanding Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and submission skills. He gained prominence in the MMA world, after defeating Robbie Lawler at UFC 47.
