Nick Laperle

Foundation Board of the Montreal Oral School for the Deaf

Mr. Laperle has a law degree from the University of Sherbrooke. He currently sits on the Foundation Board of the Montreal Oral School for the Deaf which has been providing habilitation and education for children with hearing loss from infancy through to early adulthood for 60 years.

From 2002 to 2009, he was on the Board of the Deafness Research Foundation (DRF) in Washington, DC, where, in 2004-2005, as the only Canadian to ever sit on this board, he served as the Chairman of the World Council on Hearing Health. The DRF is the largest organization of its kind in the United States. He is on the Advisory Board of the Hearing Foundation of Canada and is a very active Executive Board member of the WHO’s Geneva-based charity World Wide Hearing for Developing Countries and Underserved Communities.

Mr. Laperle attributes much of his dedication and involvement in hearing matters to his mother and father who over a 40 year period pioneered hearing health clinics across the Province of Quebec.

Mr. Laperle’s achievements, public outspokenness and personal involvement have attracted the attention of international media. He has appeared on numerous television programs, most notably CNN, CNBC and ROB-TV (now Business News Network) and featured in a series on “up-and- coming CEOs” in The National Post.
