Nicolás Ardito Barletta    

former president of Panama,

serving from 1984-1985. Barletta has had a distinguished career in public service, international organizations, and in private consultancy in Panama and abroad. He has held many prestigious positions, including as the vice president of the World Bank for Latin America and the Caribbean, minister of planning and economic policy, co-founder of the Panamanian Banking Center, founder of the Latin American Export Bank, CEO of the Interoceanic Region Authority, minister of finance and treasury, and director of the Department of Economic Affairs of the Organization of American States. Barletta was awarded the Orden de Boyaca of Colombia, the Orden del Sol of Peru, and the Orden del Águila Azteca of Mexico.
