Emotional Intelligence in the Workplace: The Neuroscience of How it Works and Why it Matters

Emotions are at the core of every experience. Emotional intelligence (EQ) is your ability to understand, manage, and engage with your emotions in healthy ways to connect and communicate with others. Research in modern neuroscience and positive psychology has proven that we can develop EQ to enhance our communication skills and productivity at work. As you train your brain and develop your EQ, you cultivate neural patterns to better manage your emotions, thoughts, and behaviors, which can translate into improved stress management, greater confidence and more easeful project completion at work. In this training, Dr. Tetreault will guide you to develop EQ to balance your emotions so that you can connect authentically with your team members and have more success and joy working together in a compassionate and connected workplace.

Cultivating compassion and wiring new neural circuits is a practice. When we lead and act from compassion, that energy increases our communication, connection and can help with teamwork and productivity.

In this training, Dr. Tetreault will offer tools to build a prosocial work environment through the practice of leading with compassion, wisdom and insight to support you in decreasing stress so that your teams can work through challenging situations together and create a more inclusive, creative and productive work environment.

Neurodiversity at Work: Building Equity and Inclusion for Neurodiverse People in the Workplace

Research shows that one in five people are neurodiverse, which includes an umbrella of identifications such as giftedness, autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyspraxia, and sensory processing disorder, which is centered on unique brain wiring. Neurodiversity impacts people across a wide variety of intellectual, emotional, sensorial, physical, and creative abilities, including those who are twice- exceptional (which means high potential plus a learning difference). Neuroscience is illuminating how no two brains are alike. Each of our brains is as unique as our fingerprints based on our genetics, autobiographical memories, and current perceptions.

In this training, Dr. Tetreault will unpack the complexities of a bright mind that come with enhanced processing and experiencing, as well as offer positive practices centered around neuroscience and psychology to support the people on your teams to share their gifts and collaborate with greater ease. Come away with greater awareness as you take a deep dive into examining the neuroscience of neurodivergence to better connect with yourself, coworkers and people everywhere. When we connect authentically and understand our team members, we naturally build greater equity and inclusion in the workplace, fostering greater team cohesiveness and productivity as everyone’s natural strengths and gifts can shine.

Building More Creative and Connected Teams: How the Neuroscience of Creativity and Positive Psychology Can Help Employees Thrive

There is a creative spark in everyone and it is through the creation of art and the solving of complex problems that we build community, contribute positively to society and support a better world. Brain science shows that when one is in flow, the mind is liberated and allows for enhanced thinking, processing and connecting. Understanding the five phases of creativity to enhance productivity and product completion is key.

Research from positive psychology and the field of meditation reveal ways that we can nurture our daily creativity. In this training we will learn about the nature of the creative brain and foster its growth with research backed approaches so that your teams can work with greater creativity and collaboration to build a more thriving workplace and innovate for a brighter future.

Work Smarter, Not Harder: Neurohacks for Managing Anxiety, Perfectionism and Imposter Syndrome in the Workplace

Stress and anxiety are a normal part of life and it is essential we learn to train our minds to manage stressors so we can live more authentically and productively. Did you know that brain circuitry, hormonal stress responses, and bodily reactions to stress can become hard-wired, causing individuals to get stuck in an anxiety cycle? When this happens, the body and mind are overtaken with the stress response – fight, flight, freeze, and flop – and the inflammatory response is elevated. In turn, a low-level stress response becomes continuously activated, causing the individual to experience the world on “pins and needles.” This leads to greater stress and trauma causing procrastination, perfectionism, and imposter syndrome.

Guiding an individual to recognize their trigger is the first step in supporting them to feel safe and work through anxiety. Evidence supports cognitive behavioral therapy, emotional regulation practices, mindfulness, exercise, healthy sleep and eating habits to rewire healthy brain patterns.

In this training you will learn strategies to help reduce the adverse effects of the stress response. Dr. Tetreault will safely guide you through practices to encourage the growth of inner resources to cultivate balanced states of mind that improve your emotional state, memory and cognitive performance. Come away with concrete strategies and communication techniques for managing daily stress so that you and your team members can work together with more peace and cohesive team collaboration.
