Nicole Hockley

Managing Director at Sandy Hook Promise; Gun Control Advocate; Mother of Dylan Hockley

Nicole Hockley is the leader of a multi-million dollar non-profit organization that within the last two years trained over 1.5 million youth and adults, and regularly communicates with a base of more than 1.1 million members. Nicole’s leadership has been recognized by People Magazine as one of 25 Women Changing the World.

In December 2016 she launched her organization’s new PSA on Good Morning America; the video went viral with over 115 million views in less than three weeks, starting a new conversation and way of thinking about gun violence prevention.

Yet how she arrived at this point in her career is the result of the most horrendous fate a parent could meet: her 6 year old son, Dylan, was killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary shootings in 2012.

In the wake of the tragedy, she came together with several other parents, and channeled their grief into Sandy Hook Promise, an organization dedicated to preventing gun violence.

Nicole’s strength is born from the decision to move towards hope. Her endurance is fueled by the need to prevent further tragedies and save lives. Her commitment to Sandy Hook Promise is the very essence of resilience: we’re all safer because of what she’s lost.
