Nina Hartley is an adult film actress and sex educator. An outspoken feminist and advocate for sexual freedom, Hartley has appeared in more than a thousand adult films, producing and starring in a series of sex education videos for Adam & Eve and under the Nina Hartley's Guide brand. She is also the co-author of "Nina Hartley's Guide to Total Sex," a book that educates on a variety of sex topics as well as safe sex.

Hartley began engaging in feminist activism in the 1980s, describing herself as a classical liberal feminist and a democratic socialist. She has long been affiliated with the Adult Performer Advocacy Committee, a labor union founded for pornographic film actors, and a long-time board member of the Woodhull Freedom Foundation. She has made frequent appearances at academic conferences and workshops and in the media to promote sex positivity. She has also given lectures at Dartmouth College, Harvard University, and the University of California.

Some of Hartley's mainstream media appearances include the Canadian film Bubbles Galore as well as "The Oprah Winfrey Show" and the 1997 film Boogie Nights. She has also appeared in several documentary films, including The Naked Feminist, After Porn Ends, and Sticky: A (Self) Love Story.
