Noah Lyles is an American professional track and field sprinter who specializes in the 100 meters and 200 meters events. He made a mark on the international stage as the 2020 Tokyo Olympic 200m bronze medalist. His achievements extend to being a six-time World champion with victories in the 200m and 4 x 100m at the 2019 World Championships, the 200m at the 2022 World Championships, and the 100m, 200m, and 4 x 100m events at the 2023 World Championships. Notably, Lyles became the first man since Usain Bolt in 2015 to complete the sprint treble at a World Championships.
He holds personal bests of 9.83 seconds for the 100m and 19.31 seconds for the 200m, the latter being an American record and positioning him third on the world all-time list for the event. Lyles has broken 20 seconds for the 200m 38 times, more than any other athlete. His career began with a gold medal win in the 200m during the 2014 Youth Olympic Games, marking him as the youngest U.S. champion in the 100m since 1984.
Lyles is a multiple-time Diamond League champion, having secured the 100m/200m double in 2019, and the 200m championship in 2017, 2018, and 2022. His domestic records are also commendable with numerous national championships to his name, including 1st place in 100m in 2015, 100m and 4th in 200m in 2016, 100m in 2018, 200m in 2019, 2021, and 2022, 3rd in 100m in 2023, and 1st in 60m in 2024. These victories make Lyles a prominent figure in the track and field landscape, representing the United States in various international competitions, including the World Championships and the Olympic Games.
