Political Adviser for DIVA for Equality

Noelene Nabulivou is 51 years old, and a Fijian feminist activist, community organizer, woman human rights defender, gender adviser and advocate for over 35 years, focusing on gender equality and universal human rights, SRHR, social and economic justice, climate change, ecological sustainability, and sustainable development. 

Noelene is the co-founder and political advisor for Diverse Voices and Action for Equality (DIVA), a grassroots LBT led Organisation using feminist intersectional and interlinkage approaches to social, economic, ecological and climate issues since 2011. Noelene’s work includes action-based research and analysis, feminist training, strategic activism, grassroots hub organizing, peace-building and restorative justice, policy advice, and regional and global multilateral work.

Noelene works across Fiji, the Pacific, and global multilateral spaces including the Commission on the Status of Women and Beijing+20, the Post-2015 Development Agenda, UNFCCC, and ICPD Beyond 2014. Noelene spent 5 years providing south feminist and Pacific CSO input into the preparatory processes of Agenda 2030 and the SDGs through to adoption in 2015 and is now involved in long term accountability work on this area.

Noelene has sat on the Asia-Pacific CSO Advisory Group to UN Women, currently is part of the Pacific Gender Coordination Mechanism, and was founding focal point for PSIDS in the Women’s Major Group on Sustainable Development. Under her guidance, DIVA for Equality was Global WGC Focal Point to the Presidency of COP23 for the Women and Gender Constituency to the UNFCCC.
