Noella Coursaris Musunka

Founder & CEO of Malaika

As the Founder of the nonprofit Malaika and an Ambassador for The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, Noella uses her platform to raise awareness for causes she believes in as a mother, feminist, and fierce advocate for Africa’s youth.

Malaika was founded in 2007 as a grassroots nonprofit that educates and empowers girls and their communities in Noella’s native country of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Malaika’s work takes 3 paths: an accredited school that provides a quality education to 275 girls and builds the leadership capacity of each student; a community center that provides education, health and sports programs to 7,000 people; and eight wells that supply clean water to 16,000 people.

Noella's work with Malaika and The Global Fund has made her a sought-after speaker on the subjects of education and health, speaking at countless venues as far-ranging as UNICEF and Cambridge University, and alongside Princess Caroline of Hanover and President Clinton. She has been featured in various outlets, such as CNN, the BBC, Vanity Fair and Vogue, and has presented in front of executives from multinationals like SAP and T-Systems. In 2016, Noella was named one of the most powerful women in philanthropy by Lifestyles magazine.
