Noelle Lambert

Amputee & Founder of the Born to Run Foundation

Born in Londonderry, New Hampshire, Noelle Lambert was having a standout freshman lacrosse season at UMass Lowell, earning America East All-Rookie team honors. During the following summer, she suffered a life-changing injury from a moped crash, resulting in the amputation of her left leg above the knee. Despite the tragedy, Lambert never let this severe injury defeat her: she returned to the lacrosse field just 18 months after her accident, where she caught a pass in front of the net and fired a shot past the goalie for a goal. The emotional celebration with her teammates that followed represented a culmination of all the time and effort she had dedicated to getting back to the sport, defying the odds of such a devastating injury.

After graduating cum laude from UMass Lowell in 2019 with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Lambert was determined to continue using her athletic abilities and tried out for the U.S. Paralympic team to compete in the 100-meter in Track and Field, a sport in which she had never competed. She made the team and broke the U.S. women’s record at the World Para Athletics Championship in Dubai. When the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo were postponed due to Covid, Lambert continued training to prepare herself for the return of the games in 2021. In Tokyo, she placed 6th in the 100M and also broke her own American record.

Not one to be satisfied with being a world-class para-athlete in one sport, Lambert took up snowboarding in March of 2021. By November, she was competing at the Europa Cup in The Netherlands where she placed 4th. She has her sight set on competing in the 2026 Winter Paralympics in Italy.

In 2018, Lambert founded The Born to Run Foundation, which aims to provide amputees with prosthetics that will allow them to run again. She is determined to spread the message of hope, determination and perseverance through the foundation and speaking opportunities.

Lambert is a recipient of the Myra Kraft Community MVP Award, the Wilma Rudolph Student Athlete Achievement Award, the New England Women’s Leadership Award by the Boys and Girls Club of Dorchester, Mass., and was honored by the Boston Celtics as a “Hero Among Us” for her commitment to helping others. She also received the L’Oreal Women of Worth Award for charitable work in her community.

Lambert appeared as a contestant in Season 43 of "Survivor."
