Noname is a formidable voice in the music industry, with a career that spans over a decade. She made her debut by featuring on Chance the Rapper's second mixtape, "Acid Rap," in 2013 and released her debut mixtape, "Telefone," in 2016, receiving critical acclaim. In 2018, she released her debut album "Room 25," further cementing her reputation as a gifted lyricist. Noname also formed the musical supergroup Ghetto Sage with rappers Smino and Saba in 2019. She made her solo television debut on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" in 2018, performing a three-song medley from "Room 25."
In addition to her musical endeavors, Noname has also made significant strides in the world of literature. Starting in 2019, she has run the Noname Book Club, an initiative focusing on radical texts by authors of color and promoting support for locally owned bookstores. The book club partners with libraries in cities like Oakland, Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles. It hosts discussions, donates books to prisons, and has sent books to over 400 facilities as of 2023. In January 2020, Noname initiated "Library Card Registration Day" to encourage library sign-ups and highlight the impact of corporations on local businesses. The Noname Book Club is currently working on establishing a physical headquarters intended as a center for various community and educational activities.
