Obie Trice
Obie Trice III is an American rapper and songwriter. He began rapping at the age of 11, and is most known for his time spent signed to Shady Records. Since leaving the label Obie has formed his own record label, Black Market Entertainment.
Obie Trice was born on November 14, 1977 in Detroit, Michigan and is a rapper and songwriter. Trice was surrounded by music growing up and began rapping at the age of eleven when his mother brought him a karaoke machine and he began to rhyme over the instrumentals. It wasn't long before Trice built a reputation for himself on the streets in his neighborhood; going to rap battle spots at the age of fourteen. Trice went on to start his own record label, Black Market Entertainment. Trice got his start in the music industry when he was introduced to Eminem by his friend, D12 member Bizarre. Eminem was impressed with Trice's free styling and got him signed to Shady Records in 2000.
Trice began collaborating with Eminem on his albums: “Devil's Night,” “The Eminem Show,” and the “8 Mile” soundtrack, which gave him exposure to Eminem's audience. Trice's debut album, “Cheers,” appeared in 2003 and was well received. The album produced a number of singles and featured production work by Eminem, Dr. Dre, and Timbaland, in addition to vocals from Busta Rhymes, Eminem, 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, Dr. Dre, Nate Dogg, D12, Tony Yayo, and Timbaland. The album eventually earned gold status and welcomed Trice into the rap community. His second offering, “Second Round's on Me,” followed in 2006. 2008 marked Trice's departure from Shady Records due to a misunderstanding; he went on to release a compilation album, “Special Reserves” in 2009 with MoSS.
2010 saw Trice launched his own record label, Black Market Entertainment, under the Universal Records umbrella. Later that same year, Trice released his first single, “My Time 2011,” from his forth coming album, “Bottoms Up.” 2011 saw another single emerge, “Learn to Love,” both singles were successful. “Bottoms Up” was released in 2012.
